T.G.I.F.!
I am definitely ready for the weekend. It has been a pretty busy week round' these here parts. I feel like there should be 5 of me so I could be in several places at once. Unfortunately, I am only one person, and being torn in several different directions this week means a lot of
This got me thinking...I really, really, ridiculously miss my days as a barista.
When life was as simple as making myself a shot of espresso
Coffee fact: they call that good stuff that floats on top, "crema".
To this day I still miss the smell of fresh coffee beans
and I'm not talking about the stuff from Starbucks.
I am totally guilty of telling my customers this.
This is so true in life. Even more truth to this when you are a barista.
Being a barista actually taught me how to be "chill" and drink coffee. Got a problem with a customer, smile and drink some coffee, then later you can have a rant fest with your co-worker, bff, and family members about the lady who stood outside your door waiting for you to open the store 10 minutes before open (tapping her foot, might I add), ordered 5 venti (that is a large in American speak) caramel macchiato's, extra hot, non-fat, no whip, yada, yada, yada, then proceeded to tell me I didn't know how to make a caramel macchiato (no, ma'am, Starbucks doesn't know how to make one!), then, oh then...icing on the cake: "Can I have 5 Cranberry Bliss Bars?" Umm...you might want to check the sign before you walk into a coffee shop...that isn't Starbucks! Yea, being a barista taught me to be real "chill."
How do you like your coffee?
I get an Americano...because I am soooo American, espresso shots over water. Then I add about 5 pumps of sugar-free vanilla, because that's what Americans do, the more chemicals the better, right? Sometimes, I decide to be really non-American and get an espresso, straight up. No frills. It makes me feel Italian!
Being a barista can make you...or break you. This is an example of a broken barista.
Fortunately, I didn't work for that company, but spent my 3 years as a barista working at a local coffee shop where I met and worked with some fabulous people, that I still like to call my friends.
Now that we have had our dose of caffeine this morning. I made a huge mistake yesterday!
I missed NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER DAY!
What the what? How is this even allowed. I mean, we all know that I love me some peanut butter.
Peanut Butter is a daily staple for me.
Peanut Butter shaped my childhood, those long days at school were brutal, but somehow my mom always knew the best afternoon snack to brighten my day! Peanut butter...straight from the jar. I think I might have eaten half the jar on some occasions...gotta love that fast metabolism as a kid.
Nothing has changed. Exhibit A: Giant Peanut Butter Cookies I "accidentally" made two days ago...
When I say "accidentally" I mean that my plan was to make pb and j cookie sandwiches. Let's just say I added one too many scoops of peanut butter cookie dough to each cookie. It was a beautiful mess.
To make up for my absent-mindedness, here is some peanut butter food porn for you!
Let's just say Mr. Peanut Butter is the perfect guy...
and definitely knows the way to my heart
Did I mention hard working?
Had to throw that one in for kicks! Hah!
Switching gears. You know how I know that I have been a little off this week? When I go to the grocery store for a specific something, buy a few things, get home, and realize I forgot the ONE ITEM that I went to the grocery store for!
In this case, it was eggs. For cookies. You can't not have eggs. You take a 2 minute trip down the street to the local health food store.
This is what happens.
Organic eggs...for $4.99! These chickens must be those chickens that lay gold.
I never buy brown eggs. I like white things.
White sugar, white dresses, white chocolate...you get the picture?
Organic, orshmanic.
In other news, I need a pedi/mani stat!
Breakthrough: I might just have to break down and make macarons today.
Because you can't have pretty nails without have a gorgeous sweet treat.
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
MANGIA!!!

I loooveeee coffee! But not drip coffee. I'm a latte girl, but enjoy French Press on the weekends.
